Can I bring children to the Arba’in walk?
Many families bring children, and it is generally safe. The atmosphere is welcoming, and volunteers often treat children with special kindness.
Is transportation available for elders and families who may not be able to walk the entire route?
Yes! We provide dedicated transport options for families, seniors, and anyone who needs support. This allows everyone to continue the journey toward Karbala alongside the group even if they can’t walk the full distance.
Can I place my luggage or bags somewhere so I don’t have to carry them during the walk?
Yes, you can place your bags in the support vehicle that travels with us. This helps you walk freely without strain. We advise packing light regardless, with a small backpack for essentials like water, medicine, or snacks.
Where will we eat and rest during the walk?
Food and drinks are provided regularly by the hundreds of mowkebs (service stations) along the Najaf–Karbala route. Hot meals, chai, fruits, and snacks are all available — free of charge.
We also rest overnight at designated mowkebs that offer sleeping areas, blankets, and washroom facilities.
How far is the walk, and how long does it take?
The total walk from Najaf to Karbala is around 80 km, marked by 1,452 poles spaced 50 meters apart. The average duration is 2–3 days, depending on your pace. Most pilgrims rest overnight at poles like 470 and 850.
Is there medical assistance available during the walk?
Yes. Several mowkebs provide first-aid, medicine, and even doctors. For example, The Zahra Trust’s site has on-site medical staff. You’ll also pass dedicated medical stations like Pole 892 (Pak Night Welfare Trust) for emergencies.
What’s the best time of day to walk?
Due to the high temperatures (up to 46°C), We will be walking in the early morning, late evening, or at night. We will use daytime hours to rest and stay hydrated.
Can my child come for the walk?
Absolutely. Many families attend with children. The atmosphere is peaceful and generous. However, ensure your child is well-rested and hydrated. Transport support is also available if they get tired.
Can I join the walk midway or only do part of it?
Yes, you can join from various points. If you cannot complete the full 80km, we will help coordinate transport to catch up with the group or bring you closer to Karbala.
